Every genre and artistic medium has projects that are done so many times they're almost mandatory. For woodcarving it's wizard-staffs, for Steampunk it's a set of goggles. And for fan art, for every cartoon, tv show, game, movie and book (comic or otherwise), SOMEONE out there will have done an homage to Mucha. Who am I to argue?
I started this back in late 2009, and then left it unfinished for more than a year after a botched file transfer cost me several months worth of updates. I'm sure the universe is having a good laugh at my expense, because after sulking about it for way too long I finally re-drew the figure...and then liked the new version more than the original. I'm sure the handy reference drawing uploaded by here ([link]) also had a lot to do with the improvement. I could probably futz with this for a few more weeks (still not 100% satisfied with the window), but really. YEARS. It's way past time to post this.
For anyone who hasn't been around for forty years (Turned forty this week. Happy Birthday to me.), the characters here are Bo and Tor from the short-lived "Mighty Orbots" cartoon. Anyone who can tell me that I've got the french in this wrong (and how to correct it) will get an imaginary cookie and the satisfaction of knowing I changed a finished artwork just for YOU.
they look amazing. I love the surprised look on Tor's face. there are a couple of new episodes of Orbots posted on Youtube (as well as the sizzle reel / premier clip 'Broots')
