Why yes, I HAVE been watching a bit of "The Vampire Diaries" lately. The blood-filled (okay, paint...MAYBE) vial was originally going to be part of my "Preserving Time" pendant, but I thought it blocked too much of the view of the gears behind it. I think it works MUCH better for this one; nice contrast between the red and the pretty, PRETTY blue and gold of the day-and-night panels from another watch. Like most of my other pieces, this pendant is made from maple, walnut, and some more of that Osage Orange wood, with a pin made from ebony holding the pieces together.
Haven't actually come up with a story for this one. If it actually IS tied to Vampire Diaries, then...hmmm. Obviously witch-made, and named after the two constant elements in a vampire's "life". Perhaps it cancels out ONE of those elements: either the wearer is protected from blood-lust, or it can unhinge the vampire from the timelessness of their curse, and allow them to age (especially helpful for vampires who were thoughtlessly turned when they were small children).
Any thoughts? (Keeping in mind that I've only watched up to the last two episodes in Season 2. I really should catch up on that...)
