And THIS would be the reason why my plan to have an inventory of 100 pieces of jewelry before Millstock (this June) has fizzled at 46. I started this table back in October, and I was determined to have it done before the end of May if it killed me.
This is the first time I've made something so complicated, so there's a few flaws. The varnish is a little patchy in places (mostly from my not quite sanding off all the glue spots), the poplar wood ITSELF is a little patchy (probably why it's so much cheaper than maple or oak), and the drawer isn't wide enough to hold the equipment for Nathan's scanning table, something which HAD been the main reason for making the darn thing in the first place. However. Nathan doesn't mind about not being able to stow the scanning equipment in the drawer (that's what the bottom shelf is for, apparently) the drawer itself WORKS, as do the dovetails that hold it together, and it is recognizably a table. Plus, as you can see, the top is shiny. Success!
The plans for this piece came from here: [link] . I may have to use that site again. $7.95 for a ten-page plan is a pretty good deal, and there were lots and lots of illustrations for every step.
