My first deviation! Time to get to work here...
This is a dragon staff I carved out of a maple branch torn down by hurricane Fran in Greensboro, North Carolina. (How's THAT for recall?) The only tools used were a Swiss Army knife and some sandpaper. Nothing fancy, but it worked fairly well. I think for future pieces like this I'll be glad to have my Dremel for the fine detal work, like those scales.
(I should also mention that this piece and several others were photographed during a marathon photo shoot by the excellent Nathan Adams, who should have links to more of his work here: [link] )
