My first deviation! Time to get to work here...

This is a dragon staff I carved out of a maple branch torn down by hurricane Fran in Greensboro, North Carolina. (How's THAT for recall?) The only tools used were a Swiss Army knife and some sandpaper. Nothing fancy, but it worked fairly well. I think for future pieces like this I'll be glad to have my Dremel for the fine detal work, like those scales.

Thank you! I've been letting the wood-carving slide for a while, for some reason. Now that I've got the deviantart account, maybe I've got enough incentive to keep making more pieces.
