Yay for commissions! This was requested by a friend of mine, who wanted a figure of Forseti for her Yule altar. The title represents about half of the total information I have on Forseti. The rest (son of Balder and his wife Nanna, rules in the palace Glitnir) I picked up in various places around the internet.
The carving is roughly six inches high, and it's carved out of Satinwood (Asian Fig), which is a lovely wood, fairly dense and very easy to carve. I saw someone refer to "the almost holographic quality of the grain", which is a good description; the grain ripples along the length of the wood, and looks like it's floating just below the surface.
It was interesting trying to design this carving, because Forseti is very highly regarded (people, other gods included, would bring their disputes to him, and his judgements were always considered fair), and yet he doesn't have any stories told about him, at least not any I could find. About the only thing I knew ahead of time was his posture: leaning forward, eyes intent on whoever is speaking to him. He is the god of justice, his judgements are fair, and he is listening.
