Chess pieces, believe it or not.
This was a project I dreamed up when I first started wood carving. In my whole life I've played maybe ten games of chess, and I think the game itself can be deadly dull. But chess pieces? Are NEAT. And I wanted to make my own set. Yep, all thirty-two pieces. A pie-in-the-sky project if there ever was one, because the two pieces in the picture here? Are pawns. Just imagine what the royalty will have to look like.
Actually it's been nice to have something guaranteed to keep me supplied with ideas. I sold the unpainted carvings of a naga, a griffin, a dryad, and a wizard at a gallery in Boone, NC several years ago, but I may try to stick with the project this time. Two down, thirty to go.
These are carved out of bass wood, and painted with acrylic.

By the by, I've nearly finished that "logo" I started for you. As I told yo man, if you don't want it for a logo, that's fine. I just remembered us talking about a dragon piece for you some time ago, and I've about finished him (it looks like a him...?) except for your name across his back. I thought he came out rather graphic looking, so I thought "Hey! A logo!"
