Description
Remember the sneak peak I posted a few weeks ago? Here's the full piece, as promised. The title refers to two important facts, namely a) no glass on the windows and b) no leaves on the tree. All completely intentional, and not at all an attempt to save myself some trouble. Ahem. Moving right along...
This piece is just under two feet tall, and it's built on a half-inch scale, instead of one inch. I was keen on having a model of an actual house, not a playhouse, and building it on a one inch scale would have made this sucker almost four feet tall. Plus, building it on this scale meant I had enough materials left over from a dollhouse I put together as a favor for a friend of mine. Seven years ago. Obviously, I've had this project sitting around for a while.
Materials used in this piece are wood (natch), nylon rope, some copper wire, and lots and lots of glue. Currently on display at the North Carolina State Fair Craft Competition.
Edit: Woo hoo! I got a ribbon! Second place in the Woodworked Miniature category!

Congrats on the "woo hoo!" Love that you used a chunk of oak stair for the base. Fitting.
