This didn't *quite* come out like I'd planned. I was sort of working out the design of the jointed legs as I went along, so I had to whittle down the wheels to give the joints clearance to move properly, which meant the supports under the unicorn showed a lot more than they did in the original drawing. Plus, Lowe's doesn't carry bright-shiny brass washers in the size I needed (and believe me, I spent a LONG time in the hardware section trying to find them) so I had to go with a duller, but still brass-colored version. And I think I left the tail looking a little square.
All of this of course is mitigated by one small fact:
Pushed, I think anyway. I started out with the idea of making it a pull-toy. But since I had to make the unicorn's horn pointing *down* (I didn't want anything that could even PRETEND to be a you-could-put-your-eye-out hazard), any leash I made would have covered over the unicorn's face. Which is okay, since she's just learning to walk, and it may take a while before she can handle running AND pulling something at the same time.
I love LOVE the fact that you wrapped the horn in wire. And the fact that not only does it work, but the legs bend in the right direction and everything. So cool
And lemmie tell you, that wire is there to STAY. I spent a lot of time making sure there wasn't anything on this that could pop off and turn into a choking hazard, so I ended up drilling two holes most of the way through the unicorn's head (one in the base of the horn, and one at the tip) and then super-gluing the ends of the wire inside. If my neice ever does pry that thing loose, I'm going to be more worried about the BLOW TORCH she would have to be using.
Is it to be pulled or pushed?
