Checkered Flag

Is it a flowing chessboard with watchparts? Or is it a Nascar flag? Only the person who owns it can say for sure...

This was another experimental piece, shaped from a scrap of checkerboard left over from another piece. I shaped the watch hand from walnut, and then added the watch gear, but I couldn't get away from the whole "flag" thing. However, like a lot of my stranger pieces, this one sold at the very next craft show. You just never know.
